Artist Statement

Viral Girl is a composite of various photographs taken with DSLRs and a smartphone. The image was created in response to the COVID-19 pandemic which utilizes warning symbols and depicts the deterioration of the body through the use of color and texture. The youthfulness of the subject was intended to demonstrate that anyone could be affected by the virus. The title was a play on the word virus, which has connotations in health and technology. All elements were composited in Photoshop.
