Artist Statement
This image came from a class assignment at COD, but as I began to draw, I realized it expressed my demeanor as I begin to move out into the world. My eyes are over focused to be sure I am moving in a safe environment. My mouth with teeth-bared and clenched (It’s a good thing they can’t be seen under my mask). Where is the welcoming smile and laughing eyes of the original photo this image was drawn from?
I’m a 67 year old who is FINALLY getting a degree in Fine Art and living life as an artist.
