As Shadows Pass
An Exhibition by William North

As Shadows Pass is an exhibition of black and white photographs capturing the life of a shadow and concurrently marking the passing of days. Captured over a cycle of hours on the campus of The College of DuPage, seemingly solid forms pass over the surface of the architecture, sometimes with the softness of a caress, at other times with hard-edged brutalism. These images formalize patterns and shapes that quickly fade, referencing that what is known can become unknown as each day advances; however, the light that darkens will certainly rise again tomorrow.
William North is a fine art photographer residing in Wheaton, IL, USA. He is interested in the effect of light and shadow on architecture and pursues the creation of quiet images that evoke thoughtfulness and reflection. North has a BA from Wheaton College and is a recent graduate of the College of DuPage Photography Program.
