Title of Work: Nunca Te Olvidare - I'll Never Forget You
Description of Work: This design is a poignant narrative of migration and sacrifice, honoring the journey of Novoa’s parents from Mexico to Utah. The hummingbird, crafted from calligraphic strokes, symbolizes ancestral guidance and the beauty of migration, while the Sego Lily, Utah's state flower, signifies the family's transition to their new home. A cocoon hanging from a Saguaro Cactus on the left represents new beginnings and growth from humble origins. Monarch butterflies flutter around the Delicate Arch, embodying both the beauty of thei life in Utah and their connection to their roots in Michoacán. Surrounding cacti and flowers depict the struggles and beauty that blooms from migration, with monarchs and hummingbirds serving as symbols of unity and creation. In the background, a desert scene transitions into a star-filled sky, reflecting the artist's belief in the connection between ancestors and the cosmos, echoing the wisdom of the Olmec peoples and Novoa’s father's teachings of connecting with your loved ones through the stars.
