Celebrated masters such as Rembrandt and Toulouse-Lautrec from the Cleve Carney Museum of Art’s permanent collection will be on display in their summer exhibition, Hooking Up: Meet the Collection. In this dynamic presentation, CCMA permanent collection works will be in conversation with contemporary pieces by artists from the Greater Chicago Area. Works by esteemed Chicago artists including Theaster Gates, Amanda Williams, and Riva Lehrer enhance permanent collection highlights by Andy Warhol, Maya Lin, Roxy Paine and more.
Hooking Up offers a rare opportunity for visitors to draw links between disparate works of art while connecting with others in the museum and beyond. A locally commissioned mural, art activities for visitors of all ages, collaboration with Glen Ellyn’s Common Good Cocktail House, and other programs foster a community of conviviality against an inviting backdrop of compelling artworks, familiar and new.
