Title of Work: Roots, ancestral spirituality.
We are an amalgam of cultures, traditions, myths and legends where everything converges in our heads and what better way to capture so many ideas in an Olmec head.
Description of work: Just as we are our own universe, corn in Mesoamerican cultures is considered a sacred plant that represented the universe, especially for the Aztecs. Corn and men have so much similarity in shapes, colors and sizes. And what can we say about Quetzalcóatl, the human side (cóatl) symbolizes the physical body with its limitations and (quetzal) dominates the celestial realm and spiritual principles of knowledge, culture, philosophy and fertility. The hummingbird represents that loved one who comes to visit us and in turn transmits healing, or like the butterfly they symbolize transformation, rebirth and hope. Without forgetting the mysticism of the Axolotl (aquatic monster), which is an amphibian endemic to Mexico City, which is said to be the twin brother of Quetzalcoatl.
